Dr. Majid Rashidi's prototype wind amplification system is now up and running. Mounted atop the Plant Services building at 1802 East 25th Street, it looks like a water tower ready to fly away. Closer inspection shows the purpose of the tower is to amplify the wind speed before it passes through the turbine blades. Funding for the research and prototype comes from the U.S. Department of Energy and philanthropist, Betty L. Gordon. Plans are underway for additional systems in downtown Cleveland and rural areas of Northeast Ohio.
