Angie Langford Memorial Book Fund

Background

Angie Langford began her career at Cleveland State University in 1989 as a part-time secretary in the Advanced Manufacturing Center. She worked in several departments through the ensuing years: Engineering Dean's Office, Department of Engineering Technology, and finally, in 2001, the Department of Mechanical Engineering where she quickly earned the respect of faculty and students with her energy, her passion, and her attention to detail.

The students were special to Angie. She took on many roles when serving students: councilor, social advisor, confidant, substitute parent, a shoulder to cry on, . . . but also a stern voice when necessary.

Angie passed away on May 14, 2008 after a brief illness. Truly a bright light was extinguished that day; her many friends and associates will always miss her and continue to draw strength from her memories.

So, it is fitting that a book fund be established in Angie's honor and memory since service to students was very important to her. As time goes by, students who never knew her will benefit from the book fund and will realize that she was someone special.
