Fenn Academy

Summer Intern Program

As a Fenn Scholar, once you are enrolled in Fenn College of Engineering, internships will be available to you during the summer after your senior year in high school--prior to the first semester of your freshman year in Fenn College and again the summer between your freshman and sophomore year.

These intern experiences will provide you with an introduction to the different roles of engineers in the work place as you work with engineers and gain experience in basic engineering skills.   Exposure to real-life engineering situations will help you to confirm not only your choice of major, but also provide insight into different specialties within the major.

Your first summer internship after high school will last a minimum of six weeks, and your second summer internship after your freshman year will last three months.  Both of these internships will be paid experiences.

During your first summer internship you will be required to register for CSC 121, Career Orientation class, facilitated by the CSU Career Services Center.  This is a one credit class which will provide you with an Intern/Co-op Orientation and will fulfill one of your requirements for entering the Fenn College of Engineering Co-op Program in your sophomore year.

At the start of your intern experience, a Fenn Academy representative will meet with you and your employer/mentor to discuss your learning objectives, ensuring that there is a clear understanding by all parties of their roles in the internship process. As the internship ends, both you and your employer/mentor will be required to complete evaluations of your experience.

Fenn Academy Summer Internships will not only provide you with valuable experience, but can also be a great way for you to earn money for college. Working with engineering professionals, you will meet employers who may hire you for future opportunities in the Fenn College of Engineering co-op program which starts at your sophomore year.  This will put you a step ahead of other students who may not have had this exposure.

The Fenn Academy Career Coordinator will make every effort to match you with appropriate intern experiences, however, placement is not guaranteed.

To learn more about these opportunities, contact the Fenn Academy Career Planning Coordinator at 216.687.6970 or m.e.gesing@csuohio.edu.
