C.A.R.E.

Educational Mission

Parallel to the research activities of the Center, involvements of students at graduate and undergraduate levels are an integral part of the Center’s mission.

Research and design activities in the area of renewable energy, including wind power system, are multi disciplinary in nature. All existing departments of the Washkewicz College of Engineering, as well as the students in the colleges of Business and Urban Affairs at CSU can and are encouraged to participate in the activities of the Center. Below is the breakdown of participation of each department/college in the activities of the Center:

  • Innovative blade design: Department of Mechanical Engineering
  • Tower design: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Electrical Power Management:
    • Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
    • Department of Engineering Technology
  • Manufacturing Aspects of System: Department of Mechanical Engineering
  • CFD and Material:
    • Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering
    • Department of Mechanical Engineering
  • Market Studies: Nance College of Business Administration
  • Policy Aspects of Renewable Energy: Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs

Establishment of the Center allows formation of teams with faculty and student members from the list of the departments and colleges listed above.

At the graduate level, Master’s theses and Doctoral dissertations will be pursued based on realistic and state-of-the-art of design/analyses of wind harnessing systems. At the undergraduate level, capstone senior projects in the area of renewable energy, more specifically wind energy will be assigned to the students.

  • Innovative blade design: Department of Mechanical Engineering
