Dr. Louis Nerone is a Design Manager and Principal Engineer for the General Electric Company, Consumer and Industrial Business, Electronics Department at NELA Park, where electronic ballasts are designed for linear fluorescent lamps, compact fluorescent lamps, high intensity discharge lamps and various other electronic lighting gear.

He has been with GE for over 20 years, starting as a Design Engineer in 1986. Dr. Nerone has been a Senior Member of the IEEE since 1998. He served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics from 1997 to 2001. He has contributed to over 20 publications and holds more than 83 US patents, most of which have been assigned to GE. Dr. Nerone is a Registered, Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio.

He received the GE Edison Award in its inaugural year of 2003. The proceeds from this grant sponsored a CSU graduate student who completed his thesis in the area of Power Electronics under Dr. Ana Stankovic.

Dr. Nerone has been an Adjunct Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Cleveland State University since 2001. He earned the B.E.E., the M.S.E.E. and the Doctor of Engineering Degree, all from the Fenn College of Engineering. He developed two Power Electronics courses, which he teaches to graduate and undergraduate students. Dr. Nerone has served on the thesis committees of six CSU students, who have published their research in the IEEE and the IES Journals.
