The Washkewicz College of Engineering, a private institution founded in 1923, has enjoyed its reputation for excellence long before the founding of Cleveland State University. The Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at CSU has since grown as an integral part of the degree-granting departments in the Washkewicz College of Engineering. The Undergraduate Program in concert with one of the most successful Cooperative Education Programs in the country, offer an attractive avenue to further your education. Full-time faculty and graduate students work actively in modern Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Research laboratories. The Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering also administers specializations in Chemical Engineering and Applied Biomedical Engineering (ABE) as part of the Doctor of Engineering Program in the College of Engineering.
In addition to local chemical companies, the Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Department maintains continuing relationships with The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, The Ohio Aerospace Institute, and the NASA Glenn Research Center.

CSU celebrated the 23rd Annual Hispanic Awareness Month with the 2013 Latino Awards Recognition Luncheon. Outstanding members of CSU's Latino community were honored, including our department faculty member, Dr. Jorge Gatica, for being a mentor to minority students and his service as a CSU-Esperanza liaison.
