ABE is a specialization within the Doctor of Engineering (DRE) program. The program is governed by the regulations of the DRE program as stated in the Graduate Catalog of Cleveland State University. The following descriptions provide some clarifications and explain additional requirements for the ABE specialization.
Applicants to the ABE program must hold a master's degree in engineering or in a related science discipline, such as chemistry, physics, or mathematics, or an MD. At least one degree (baccalaureate or master's) must be in engineering. In exceptional cases, applicants to the program may be considered without an engineering degree if they have a strong foundation in calculus, physics, and chemistry or biology, before entering the program. A minimum master’s grade-point average of 3.25 is required.

Financial SupportFinancial aid in the form of assistantships and tuition grants are available on a competitive basis for qualified students. Most full-time students, in good standing, hold graduate assistantships, providing stipends in addition to tuition and fee benefits.
