August 14th, 2014

The Washkewicz College of Engineering hosted its first annual “Alumni Meet and Greet with Dean Anette Karlsson” on August 14th, 2014, at the Pickwick and Frolic Martini Bar on East 4th Street in Cleveland, OH. Over 60 participants attended the event including 40 alumni, department chairs, faculty members, and officers of student organizations. The evening was launched by the Fenn Co-op Program Manager, Sandra English, with a brief welcome address and acknowledgements. Dr. Anette Karlsson, Dean of Engineering, then addressed the name change of the college from Fenn to Washkewicz College of Engineering as well as the strategic vision for the college in the forthcoming years. Other speakers included Paul Pawlaczyk, Director of Development for the college, Gregg Schoof, Manager of Engineering Student Programs, and Dennis Wessel, the college of engineering representative in the CSU’s Alumni Association, who discussed ways for alumni to become more involved and stay connected with the college.  Following the closing remarks, the remainder of the evening was allotted for networking. Special gift bags were presented to all alumni attendees.

The event was a huge success based on the number of positive remarks from the attendees. The college intends to hold more networking opportunities in the near future to connect current engineering students with local alumni. Some of these alumni events will create a forum for which the college can recognize and celebrate engineering alumni for their professional and personal accomplishments.
