Steps to Your Successful Transfer

Step 1 - Transfer Events

Sign up for an upcoming transfer event or campus tour. Register online or contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 216.687.5411.

(OPTIONAL) Step 2 - Pre-Admission Advising

Set up an academic advising appointment for an unofficial evaluation of the transferability of your credits. Bring unofficial copies of all previously attended institutions'transcripts to the appointment for review. Your advising office is determined by your college of enrollment. Contact your advisor.

The Partnership Office at Lakeland Community College or Lorain County Community College can also provide unofficial transcript evaluations.

Step 3 - Complete the Admission Process

  • Submit Application for Undergraduate Admission
  • $30 application fee
  • Send official copies of transcripts from all previously attended institutions, including high school
  • If fewer than 12 semester hours of college credit are earned and high school diploma is less than five years old, submit ACT or SAT test scores

Step 4 - Financial Aid and Scholarships

Learn about opportunities for Financial Aid or speak to a Campus 411 Student Service Specialist in person by contacting the Campus411 Office located in the Main Classroom (MC), Room 116, call 216.687.5411 or email at campus411@csuohio.edu. Appointments are not necessary. The Campus411 Office will not be able to access your financial aid record until you have been admitted.

Checklist:

  1. List Cleveland State on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  2. Submit necessary verification documents to the Campus411 Office (if selected)
  3. Log in to your CampusNet account to accept, decline, and/or change your awards in the "Awards" section of the FIN AID tab.

To remain eligible for Federal Direct Loan you must:

  • Remain enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours for every term in which you are receiving loans
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Complete a valid Direct Lending Master Promissory Note (MPN)
  • Complete Loan Entrance Counseling

Step 5 - Acceptance and Transfer Credit Evaluation

You will receive an acceptance letter in the mail, along with your CSU ID number. Shortly after, you will receive a CampusNet password. CampusNet is Cleveland State's online student resource system used for personal information, course registration, parking and account information. Log on to CampusNet.

The Office of the University Registrar will send you an official transcript credit evaluation, listing the courses that have been accepted for transfer credit. Once you receive this letter, it is recommended you meet with your academic advisor in your college advising office.

Step 6 - Intent To Enroll

All students must be admitted to Cleveland State and declare their intent to enroll before receiving financial aid and scholarships. Mail in your Intent to Enroll card found in your admissions welcome packet or complete this process online before May 1. To complete the form online, log on to CampusNet using your CSU ID and password (call 216.687.5050 if you need to reset your password). Click on the "Applicant" tab and choose "yes" to accept admission to CSU.

Step 7 - Orientation

The Transfer Orientation programs are optional, but highly recommended. To best meet your needs, we provide an array of services and programs designed especially for you. Choose your preferred Orientation program(s), then register online through CampusNet or call 216.687.9379.

Step 8 - Advising

Once you receive your official transfer credit evaluation, you should schedule an appointment with your college advising office. Click here to contact your advisor.

Step 9 - Registration and Viking Card

Log on to CampusNet to add and drop classes offered at any of our locations. Get your Viking Card (Student ID) in MC 112. Bring a photo ID and CSU course schedule.

Step 10 - Parking

All students who commute to campus must have a parking pass to park on campus. Hangtags can be purchased through Parking Services in person or online through CampusNet. Log on to CampusNet. Students purchasing online should do so at least two weeks prior to the start of classes in order to receive your hangtag through the mail. Parking at our East and West Centers is free of charge!

Step 11 - Housing

Students interested in living in Fenn Tower or Euclid Commons must complete a housing application. Apply for housing online. Applications are also mailed to admitted students as part of the welcome packet. To secure a space in one of the University's residence halls, students should complete and return the application and a nonrefundable $20 application fee.
