Are you looking for more flexible options to fit courses into your busy schedule? Cleveland State University offers a growing number of ELEARNING CLASSES, both credit and non-credit, that make it easier to take courses that fit your needs. Cleveland State offers elearning courses in three formats Online, Blended, and Interactive Video (IDVL). Contact the Center for eLearning about the various degree and certification programs offered in elearning formats.
Not all Cleveland State classes are taught at the downtown campus, too. You may find a more convenient location at our Extended Campuses, University Partnerships, and Other Off-Site locations.
ONLINE COURSES are available to students who can use a computer that has internet capabilities. Some classes are taught completely on the web. While online, students have access to all the course information, resources, exercises, and other elements of the class. They also are provided with ways of interacting with the instructor and of discussing questions and issues with other students in the course.
BLENDED COURSES combine online delivery with traditional face-to-face classroom instruction. Typically, blended courses meet less frequently than traditional courses while using a significant online component. Blended courses vary in the ways they mix online and face-to-face elements. Check with details in Campusnet when you register for specific meeting times or contact the academic department for more information about a particular course.
INTERACTIVE VIDEO DISTANCE LEARNING (IVDL) courses link several classroom locations using digital video technology. The instructor originates the class from one location, while students at remote sites are linked through two-way video and audio. Students can interact with the instructor and other students as if in the same classroom. IVDL instruction is being utilized more often to bring additional offerings to students at the Centers, the University Partnerships, and other sites of learning.
Courses Taught at Extended Campuses, University Partnerships, and Off-Campus Locations: Although not distance learning classes, Cleveland State University also offers courses at a variety of locations in the northeastern Ohio area. At our extended campuses, East Center in Solon and West Center in Westlake; at our two University Partnerships with Lorain County Community College and Lakeland Community College; and at other off-site locations, a student can find convenient education closer to home or the workplace. Visit CampusNet for site locations and offerings.
