Most health and safety regulations enacted by federal, state and/or local regulatory agencies, particularly the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), have a training program. Employers must provide training programs pertinent to a particular safety program at no cost to the employee on company time.

The University Office of Environmental Health and Safety facilitates periodic training for all employees as required by a particular environmental health or safety regulations. Some training is annually required while other training is only initial training upon employment.

New Employee Safety Orientation: Sessions for new hires in conjunction with the Department of Human Resources and Labor Relations. The sessions are mandatory for all new employees, including student employees, and are designed to familiarize employees with established safety and health programs and emergency procedures. All University employees hired after January 1, 2006, are required to attend one of these sessions. If you are a new employee and have not been scheduled for this orientation, contact Human Resources at 216.687.3839
