Editing a navigation menu link: STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE

  1. Navigate to List Menus view: Your main page > Group tab > Menus
  2. Click on add link
    The menu add link button
  3. The Add Item Into Menu areaOn the ADD ITEM INTO MENU page, make the changes desired. (click image on right to view larger image)
    1. Menu link title - the short text on which the user will click
    2. Path - the URL of the page you want visiters to view after the link is clicked
      • Please note: this is where you will paste the copied URL.
      • Some of the pages may have a path with the word node in it. This generally happens in pages that were created for you. All new pages you make will have URLs based on your page title.
    3. Description - this is more roll over text. Type in a very brief escription of what a user will find on the page.
    4. Enabled - if you are ready to have the page in your nav system, make sure this is checked. Unchecked means the link will not be in the nav system but the page is still published and searchable.
    5. Show as expanded - if you have a parent page that has child links with child links, you may wish to have all of the links appear when the page loads. Use this very sparingly.
    6. Parent link - open the drop down menu and click on the page that your new page will appear under.
Please Note: The menu is designed so that your main navigation links have two hyphens to the left of the page name while child links have three or more depending on their position.
      • You can change this later in the List Items area.

    7. Weight - each menu link is actually part of a list. Child links are part of a list embedded within another list. Selecting a very low number in this menu will ensure that your new page will always be near the top of the embedded list. Otherwise, the CMS will place them for you.
Please note: The lowest number is -50 and the highest number is 50.

  4. Click on Save.
