Dance Program

Goals

The Dance Program mission is to make dance accessible to all CSU students and the surrounding community. It is dedicated to provide students, professionals and general public with opportunities to participate and view dance as a performance and creative artform, educational tool, and recreational activity.

Goals:

  • to reach out into the community to extend educational opportunities and services
  • to promote growth in creativity, self-concept and aesthetic viewpoints
  • to develop a diverse aesthetic, cultural appreciation and creative process in students, audiences and performers
  • to provide performance opportunities for students, faculty, local professionals, and visiting artist
  • to offer students and community the opportunity to work with nationally recognized performers, choreographers and educators by holding workshops and masterclasses in technique, creative process, teaching methods, and world dance forms
  • for students to receive professional experience by interning with our professional resident compan The Dance/Theatre Collective
  • to preserve, promote and grow dance as an art form within the community
  • to help give students a solid foundation in the liberal arts
  • to collaborate with surrounding colleges and community organizations to effectively reach all of the above goals
