Windows to the World

Join the Humanities Consortium for another year of the lecture series that has been called "excellent," "exciting," and "challenging"!

Praised for making the humanities more accessible to students, faculty, and the general public, the Humanities Consortium of Cleveland State University presents another year of the Cultural Crossings lecture series. This year's series runs under the theme "Windows to the World".

Kevin Powell

A free public program
Thursday, April 3, 5-6:30 pm
Mather Mansion 301
2605 Euclid Ave.

Kevin Powell is widely considered one of America’s most important voices in these early years of the 21st century. He is a political activist, poet, essayist, hip-hop historian, public speaker and entrepreneur.

Powell has published seven books, including his current title, Someday We’ll All Be Free, a collection of provocative essays on freedom, democracy, justice and race in America, as inspired by Hurricane Katrina, the 2004 presidential election, and September 11th.

He has become an outspoken critic of violence against women and girls, and is at the forefront of the movement to redefine American manhood away from sexism and violence. Powell also produced a 10-city State of Black Men Tour, numerous black male think tank sessions, and “Black and Male in America,” a three-day national conference. He is a 2008 Democratic candidate for the United States Congress representing New York City.
