Mission StatementThe Counseling and Testing Center provides a variety of services to members of the Cleveland State University community. The mission of the Counseling Center is to provide effective psychological services to students, faculty and staff of Cleveland State University (CSU). The Counseling Center participates in the University's commitment to teaching, research and service, and has the charge of providing effective counseling and related psychological services to members of the CSU community. These services are intended to assist students, faculty and staff to achieve their academic, vocational and personal goals. The Center's specific mission is to provide a range of services that respond to the specific needs of students, faculty and staff, and that enhance the quality of life in CSU's diverse community. The Testing Center provides test administration, scoring and evaluation services for faculty, staff, and non-CSU organizations, such as professional testing companies and commercial companies. The Center's clinical staff consists of psychologists, licensed counselors
and licensed social workers, and counseling and psychology graduate
trainees. The counselors and psychologists at the Counseling Center
adhere to the ethical principles set forth by the American Psychological
Association, the American Counseling Association, and the National Association
of Social Workers. Sessions are private and are provided without charge
to CSU students. All discussions and records are kept strictly confidential,
except in rare and unusual circumstances, such as when there is an imminent
risk of injury to clients of the Center or identified others.
