B.A. in Communication Management Did you know that people who are most successful in their work are
those with excellent interpersonal communication skills? Business executives
rate the ability to use skills such as listening, problem solving, teamwork
and making public presentations in different work situations among the
most important factors for upward mobility. The Bachelor of Arts in
Communication Management teaches you the tools and theory you need to
pursue an exciting range of careers that revolve around the dynamics
of human relationships in different work settings. Special tracks: Five areas of concentration are available within the communication management major: health communication, intercultural communication, mediation, organizational communication, and relational communication. You will need to complete the requirements for one of these concentrations to complete the Communication Management major. Each area of concentration teaches students major theories of human communication, how to apply research to specific contexts and manage information, and insights regarding how communication can be used successfully in everyday life. Why major in Communication Management?A major in communication management can prepare students for a variety of careers involving organizational consulting, health care advocacy, dispute resolution, and management of communication divisions of major companies. Organizations need people who are sensitive to communication problems and can use their expertise to mediate disputes. Health-care organizations seek employees with sensitivity to doctor-patient communication and appreciation for the cultural context in which health communication takes place. Corporations seek specialists in team-building and leadership, aspects of the communication management major. Expertise in communication management should also be helpful to those who want to apply their expertise to solving social problems and improving quality of life in Northeast Ohio.
