The GCEDC serves as an important link between the College
of Education and Human Services and the K-12 community

The Greater Cleveland Educational Development Center began in 1983 in response to a need to bring the resources of area school districts and the Cleveland State University College of Education together to deal with mutually beneficial professional development programs. In 1992, the GCEDC was awarded a grant from the Ohio Department of Education to coordinate the Northeast Regional Professional Development Center. The NRPDC was one of 12 Regional Professional Development Centers that implemented Ohio Department of Education professional development initiatives. As the ODE makes its transition to the Ohio Regional Delivery System, the GCEDC will continue to network with the ODE and the Regional Service Centers to plan and implement meaningful services and activities. The GCEDC routinely works with and coordinates professional development activities with the Greater Cleveland School Superintendents’ Association, area county Educational Service Centers, Special Education Regional Resource Centers, WVIZ Ideastream, Cleveland HealthSpace, and the College of Education and Human Services Departments, including the First Ring Leadership Academy, The Reading First Ohio Center, the Master of Urban Secondary Teaching Fellows, and the Center for Urban School Collaboration. The GCEDC offers school districts affordable membership
