The Cleveland State University Department of Theatre and Dance in partnership with GroundWorks DanceTheater, is pleased to offer a free contemporary master class with Amy Miller on Friday, Oct 13, 2017, 5:00 – 6:30 pm in the CSU Dance Studio, room 523 (CSU Arts Campus Middough Building, 1901 E. 13th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44114). Please reserve a space by emailing

Utilizing improvisational structures to discover new ways of experiencing movement, Miller's master class will prioritize both one's sense of intellect and instinct. Through conscious attention on generating momentum from the core to energize the limbs, we will explore the body's capacity for greater range and efficiency of movement. Investigations into the concept of focus (whether with one's eyes or imagination) will uncover how that research can enliven artistry and presence. Exploring both partnered and group improvisations will allow for visceral connections between participants, encourage increased awareness of the moment, and build compassion towards collaborative decision-making.
