  • Applicants must be currently enrolled at or admitted to attend CSU as a graduate student within the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program with the goal of obtaining their degree from CSU.  Students from non-CSU consortium partner institutions are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Preference will be given to students who have several years of life experience beyond their baccalaureate degree that includes significant and interesting work history that will inform their creative efforts.
  • Applicants should evidence strong creative or professional potential in the opinion of the faculty.
  • Applicants must be in good standing with CSU, however, there is no specific GPA requirement for allocation.
  • Financial need may be considered.
  • The Raab-Brennan Scholarship is renewable and students may receive the scholarship for a maximum of two years.  A student holding the scholarship in one year shall have preference in subsequent years.
  • If a suitable graduate student is not identified for the scholarship, the English Department Chair, MFA coordinator and Dean may agree to allocate the scholarship, as needed, to a CSU undergraduate senior student who possesses similar characteristics for a one year period.  Undergraduates who receive the Raab-Brennan Scholarship may receive it for one year only.

  • Scholarship recipients must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.

  • It is also the preferences that the scholarship recipient should not be a member of the CSU Honors Program.
