Hosts Third Annual Cleveland Tuba-Euphonium Day

On Saturday, May 5, 2018, Cleveland State University Music Department and J.c. Sherman, Instructor of Tuba & Euphonium, will be hosting the third annual Cleveland Tuba-Euphonium Day (CTED). The event, celebrating International Tuba Day, will be a day of learning and celebration of all things tuba.

The event will include:

  • Warm-up session with Yasuhito Sugiyama, Principal Tuba with The Cleveland Orchestra  
  • Colloquium: The Legacy of Ronald Bishop, an interactive event with students and colleagues of the renowned tubist and educator
  • Exhibits by instrument makers, repair techs, sellers, and publishers
  • Mass-ensemble reading session
  • Recitals by area soloists and tuba-euphonium ensembles
  • A Tuba Museum featuring antique and unique tubas and related instruments
  • Final performance in Drinko Auditorium featuring Cleveland State University’s Viking Tuba-Euphonium Consort (VTEC)

The event is free and open to all musicians of all ages and abilities.

Event parking will be available in the East 21st Garage for a daily rate of $10.

Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m., and events run throughout the day (5:00 pm).
