Trumpeter Stephen Chapdelaine is an active freelancer in the Cleveland area frequently playing and touring with the Cleveland Orchestra in addition to playing at Playhouse Square, Cleveland Pops, Blossom Festival Band and Orchestra and the Buffalo Philharmonic with whom he has recorded. Stephen earned his Bachelor’s degree from Boston University and a Master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. His teachers have included Roger Voisin, Michael Sachs, James Darling, and Joseph Foley,  

After graduating from CIM, Mr. Chapdelaine received a principal trumpet post in the Orquesta Juvenil de Veracruz in Xalapa, Mexico, where he played for a short time before moving to New York City. While in New York, he gained experience playing in the Broadway production of La Bohème, with the American Symphony Orchestra, and with Speculum Musicae.  Currently, Stephen plays second trumpet with the Canton Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of several different chamber music groups.

As a teacher, Stephen has over 15 years of experience teaching privately at home and recently at the Cleveland Music School Settlement and is very excited to be joining the Cleveland State University faculty.  Stephen lives in Cleveland Heights with his wife Jiah, a violinist, their daughter Ella, and their dog Eddie.
