Dr. William Martin

William R. Martin, Professor Emeritus, is a musicologist and performer. Recipient of four university degrees, Dr. Martin earned his Ph.D. in Musicology from Oxford University in England. Included among his publications are Orazio Vecchi's Convito Musicale, the Prentice-Hall textbook, Music of the Twentieth Century, and contributions to the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. His performance career has taken two directions, one as a singer and the other as a conductor. His singing credits include a wide range of experience as a recitalist and as a specialist in oratorio and opera. As a conductor, he has a highly diversified experience in directing both large and small ensembles.
