Barry Hartz is a doctoral student at Case Western Reserve University and recently retired band director for the South Euclid-Lyndhurst City Schools.  He earned National Board Certification in 2007 and was selected as the Outstanding Music Educator by the Ohio Music Education Association in 2013.  The Memorial Junior High School Bands under his direction earned straight Superior ratings in OMEA events for the past eight consecutive years and performed twice at OMEA conferences.  The Memorial bands have hosted Quincy Hilliard, Deborah Sheldon, and Lisa Bontrager as guest artists and commissioned a piece by Marilyn Shrude, which was premiered in 2012 with John Sampen as soloist.  Mr. Hartz has served as guest conductor for the Lorain City Schools and Morehead State University and as a clinician at OMEA conferences, Kent State University, Cleveland State University, Baldwin Wallace University, and the University of Michigan.
