Mark DeMio, Bassoon; joined the Department of Music as in 2001. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and has performed numerous times with the Cleveland Orchestra including tours and recordings on both bassoon and contrabassoon.   Mark balances a busy performance and teaching freelance lifestyle. He is on the faculty at Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Institute of Music Preparatory, Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory Preparatory and the Music Settlement.  Among the groups he performs with are the Akron Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Youngstown Symphony, Trinity Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Players, Blue Water Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland Chamber Symphony and Cleveland Pops.  Active in Chamber Music, Mr. DeMio is a founding member of the Black Squirrel Woodwind Quintet.  Mr. DeMio especially enjoys time at home with his pianist wife Elizabeth, two children and two rascally dogs.
