Dr. Baumgartner is the author of the monograph Exiled Goddesses: Female Statues in the Stage Works of Kurt Weill, Thea Musgrave and Othmar Schoeck (Hildesheim: Olms Verlag, 2011). He has also contributed to the dictionaries Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart and the forthcoming Grove Dictionary of American Music as well as a series of chapters to several scholarly publications. Another area is film music. He currently writes a monograph on Jean-Luc Godard’s use of music in his films.
