Clinics & Masterclasses

Nick Woud, timpanist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra visited this year and gave one of the best master classes ever.

Frederic Macarez with members of the CSU Percussion Studio

Many leading percussionists and timpanists visit CSU to present masterclasses and clinics. These classes present an excellent "hands-on" opportunity for CSU percussion students to more about their craft. Past clinicians have included: Tim Adams, Joe Adato, Bob Becker, Michael Burritt, Barry Dove, Danny Druckman, Frank Epstein, Cloyd Duff, Will Hudgins, Dana Kimball, Frederic Macarez, Anton Mittermayr, Bob Van Sice, Leigh Howard Stevens, and Michael Werner.

Most of our masterclasses are free and open to the public. Check the events page frequently for upcoming sessions.

Ji Hye Jung just presented a clinic and masterclass at CSU on March 18th. Several CSU students performed works by Bach in preparation for upcoming auditions and one piece by Kevin Bobo. Ji Hye will be returning regularly to CSU! You can watch her videos on the Vic Firth website.

Svet Stoyanov presented a clinc and masterclass in March. Svet performed several pieces and listened to the students play Bach and other works. Svet is one of the most energetic and musically well-rounded players around. You can watch his videos on the Vic Firth website.
