The KW Cultural Center offers a number of resources for teachers: |
Expedition Boxes TM are curricular kits that have been developed by the K'inal Winik Cultural Center for Maya studies programs, including study abroad programs or K-12 curricula. The boxes contain binders with general readings about Maya culture and country-specific information, such as post cards, maps, newspapers, as well as artifacts, such as clay bead necklaces and embroidery from Belize, or wooden toys, ceramic whistles, and intricate weavings from Guatemala, that are found in the Maya cultures in the respective countries. As students and faculty return from their travels, we ask them to share their experiences of study abroad through journal entries, essays, photographs and other items that are contributed binders and boxes, making each box unique and authentic.
