Scholarships

Creative Writing Contest

Approximately $3,000 in tuition scholarships are awarded to winners of the Cleveland State University Student Writing Contest. Writers who hold scholarships or assistantships are encouraged to enter so that the CSU Poetry Center can honor their achievement.

Winners receive formal notification of their awards in a letter from the Financial Aid Office, and should be aware that the prize takes the form of tuition remission for Spring semester. Winners whose tuition is already covered by scholarships, fellowships, assistantships, or staff benefits receive kudos but not cash. Winners who have already paid Spring tuition are reimbursed.

Winning entries are forwarded to Whiskey Island Magazine to be considered for publication; other mss. can be reclaimed from the Poetry Center office, RT 1841. Entrants who would like an individual critique of their manuscripts should seek out one of the judges.
