The Center for Poverty Studies (CPS) at Cleveland State University is an interdisciplinary resource for faculty, students and members of the community interested in poverty-related issues in the Greater Cleveland area. The CPS was established in 2000 to coordinate educational, research, training, and proposal activities on campus and to enhance the visibility of poverty as a topic of research, concern, and activism at the University. In recognition of the adverse consequences and risks of persistent poverty and the University’s urban mission of involvement with local communities, the Center for Poverty Studies seeks to direct University resources toward furthering an understanding of the complex factors responsible for poverty as well as efforts toward its alleviation.
