Professional Experience & Community Activities

Richard Pitchford has been the Director of Broadcast, Computer and Communication Engineering at Cleveland State University since 1990.

Pitchford has been instrumental to the School of Communication and to the establishment of the Digital Video Communication Center.  He both reconstructs donated equipment from area industry and works to secure grants for new equipment purchases.

Pitchford says he based his career around his hobbies in life.  “The secret to happiness is to find out what you like to do, then find someone who will pay you to do it.”  A member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers since 1987, in 1989, he was certified as a Senior Radio and Television Broadcast Engineer.  In 2000, he was awarded the Distinguished Staff Service Award from CSU. 

Education

Pitchford earned his degree in Radio, Television and Film from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1977.
