Professional Experience & Community ActivitiesJohn Ban, Term Instructor-Studio Manager teaches the majority of the hands on Digital Media production and management courses. He has served here as an adjunct instructor/ studio manager since 1991. During this time he has created many internal and external partnerships helping acquire over one million dollars of in kind, internal and external grants for the University.

Ban has over 28 years of professional experience in the Television Broadcast, Cable, and Corporate communications markets mainly as a Producer-Director, Production Manager and Sales Engineer. His work has been recognized for Emmy, Addy, Telly, NACAA, ITVA, OIFF Short Category and The W.E.B. Dubois awards of excellence. Locally he has served as President-member of the International Television Association, Board of Governors for the Cleveland Regional Chapter of the National Television Academy, and as member for the Society of Broadcast Engineers.

Ban and his students have created local television programming for WOIO-TV, CLV-TV23, Sportschannel, Adelphia Cable, Cox Cable,and Ohio News Network. In 2005-2006 his COM 352 students produced and directed 12 live Webcast games for CSU's Men's and Woman's Basketball for the Horizon League. >

Outside activities include teaching video to "at risk" youths, freelancing for Classic Teleproductions and other production companies, and consultant sales and engineering for the Broadcast, Corporate, and Educational markets.

Education

Instructor Ban has received a B.S in Telecommunications from Kent State University in 1979 and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Cleveland State University in 2004.John Ban enjoys sharing professional relationships with his students. He demands that they create professional standard work and utilize the quality internships available. This formula has created many employment opportunities for our students.
