Overview of Production courses

We offer a sequence of 10-12 courses that can be generally taken within a 2 year period. Com 131 (Media and Technology Literacy) is the needed prerequisite to get the ball rolling. We have courses in management, engineering, radio, DVD authoring and several digital video offerings.

Control Room and Studio:


• 30x40 broadcast studio with Grass Valley switcher
• 3) Sony studio cameras
• Pinnacle digital effects and character generation
• Leitch Media server
• DVCPro, Betacam SP, SVHS, DVD recorders

Editing suites:


• 10) Avid Xpress Pro HD systems
• 6) Avid Xpress DV systems
• 2) Immix Video Cubes
• Leitch News Flash editing video server
• 7) Cool Edit audio production suites

Remote Production:


• 17) 3 chip DV and miniDV Video cameras
• a four-camera High Definition remote production unit
• a three-camera Standard Definition remote production unit

Overview of Faculty-Staff

We currently have one full time faculty, one term faculty, two part time instructors, one full time staff engineer and five students assistants.

Overview of Facility Rules

The equipment is to be used for Communication production courses only. The type of equipment that can be used is determined by what courses you have completed. Check out times and facility bookings are first come first serve and must be used for class projects. Time constraints apply for usage of all facility and equipment.
