Nance event gives students networking experience

By Mike Kohuth

Conducting a successful product launch was the topic of discussion at the fourth “Noon@Nance,” a program designed for educating and networking for students.

The free event was hosted on March 8 by Cleveland State’s Nance College of Business Administration.

The panel discussion welcomed Jim Rucker, vice chairman emeritus of Wyse Advertising, and John Klipfell, retired senior vice president of American Greetings and CEO of AmericanGreetings.com.

Both Rucker and Klipfell offered students and other professionals an insight of the importance of a successful product launch. The event’s moderator, Marketing Instructor Jim D’Orazio, said past “Noon@Nance” programs have been successful and is looking forward to many more events in the future.

“The purpose of the program is to first uphold education…the second is networking,” said D’Orazio. “We try very hard to bring the best most prominent business people in Cleveland, to Nance, and talk about best practices and current trends, primarily in Marketing.”

First time “Noon@Nance” attendee junior mathematics major and local business owner Charyn Compeau gained a lot of useful information from the panel.

She said she would take some of the information and put it to good use in her business. Compeau also said she was looking forward to the next event.

“I’m definitely going to make a return and bring my business partners with me, I think it is a wonderful program,” Compeau said. “The topics are very on point to what is needed in the business community.”

The next “Noon@Nance” event will be at noon April 26. The discussion will focus on new marketing technologies with information on how business can grow through blogs, podcasts and video. Scheduled panelists include Jim Kukral from BlogKits.com and Dan Hanson from GreatLakesGeek.com.
