Senior
Week begins April 30

The journey is finally coming to an end.
It does not matter how long the journey took. The Department of Student
Life is putting together a week of celebrations dedicated to the accomplishments
of graduating seniors.
The senior week is designed to reflect on the past. As well as celebrate
the memories students created and look forward to a bright and prosperous
future. Students can close one chapter of their lives and open up a
new one.
Graduation is an accomplishment, said Tasheka Sutton, coordinator
of Student Activities. For some people it may be an accomplishment
that took five years, it may be an accomplishment that took 10 years,
it may be an accomplishment that took four, for them it is a big deal,
why not celebrate what they have done.
The week kicks off April 30 with the Young Alumni Luncheon from Noon-2
p.m. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the professional
and personal benefits of belonging.
Sutton explained that seniors are going to be alumni and the goal of
this luncheon is to welcome them into the Alumni Association so graduates
stay connected with CSU forever.
On May 1, the Senior Fair will provide students with an opportunity
to decide what path they should take after graduation. Career Services
is working with the Department of Student Life to offer networking opportunities.
Students can learn to manage their college loans and set up the building
blocks to create a financially stable future. Graduates can purchase
caps and gowns, college rings and other items that might commemorate
this momentous occasion.
This fair is designed to address issues that seniors might not
be thinking about right now, but you never know when you are going to
need that information, Sutton said. That is really what
the fair is about. You are graduating, so what is the next step?
But the most memorable night of senior week is the Class of 2007 Dinner
Dance, which will be held on May 2. A graduating senior will be selected
to address seniors, faculty, staff, family and friends.
Students who are interested in sharing their stories on CSUs role
in their college journey are asked e-mail a copy of their speech to
t.s.Sutton@csuohio.edu by March 30.
This is the first ever senior week we are having and you the class
of 2007 have the privilege of participating. This is for you,
Sutton said. Students graduating in May or December are encouraged to
participate.
Seniors must RSVP in the Department of Student Life to attend this event.
Tickets are available April 2 at $10 per person.
