Irshad Manji, best selling author, media entrepreneur, and queer Muslim, will discuss her book “The Trouble with Islam: A Muslim’s Call for Reform in Her Faith” at a free lecture on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. in Drinko Hall. 17th Annual Midwest Minority Career Fair planned for Friday, Nov. 5

Cleveland State University’s Career Services Center is sponsoring the 17th annual Midwest Regional Minority Career Fair on Friday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Woodling Gym. Admission is free, and all majors and professions are welcome to attend. Bring a supply of resumes, and business attire is recommended. Cleveland State presents 16th Annual People's Art Show

The People’s Art Show, a free, unjuried, uncensored exhibition celebrating creativity, diversity, and imagination, is back at the CSU Art Gallery. The show will open on Nov. 5 and run through Dec. 10, with an opening reception at the gallery on Friday, Nov. 5 from 5 to 9 p.m. More information can be found at the Art Gallery website, www.csuohio.edu/gallery.

MBA information sessions planned

Cleveland State University is holding open houses to highlight their Master’s Degree program in Business Administration. During November, the open houses will be held at the downtown campus, East Center in Solon, and West Center in Westlake. The sessions will be on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Airport; on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon in the College of Business, Room 306; on Monday, Nov. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Beachwood; and on Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Fairlawn. Nominations sought for May honorary degree recipients

The Board of Trustees Committee on Honorary Degrees, Citations and Recognitions invites the campus community to submit nominations for honorary degree recipients for the May 2005 Commencement ceremonies. Series explores "Shop Cleveland"

The Ruth Ratner Miller Center for Greater Cleveland’s Future, The Levin College Forum and the Urban Affairs Alumni Organization will present a panel discussion about the challenges of developing retail in the city of Cleveland and the importance of retail within a larger development strategy for the city. The discussion will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs Atrium. The Maasai return in November

The Simba Masaai Outreach Organization (SIMOO), based in North Kajiado District in Kenya, is again visiting Cleveland. Its goal is to improve the living standards of the poorest community members among the Maasai of Kenya, as well as to celebrate and preserve the most valuable aspects of Maasai traditions.

During this U.S. tour, they hope to raise funds for the ongoing projects of their organization, especially for the education of women and girls.

Performances open to the public include: Tuesday, Nov. 2, noon to 1:30 p.m. in the University Center, Room 106 (Auditorium), open discussion session; also Nov. 2, 6:30 to 8 p.m., reception and discussion in the Howard Mims African American Cultural Center, UC 103.

The Maasai will perform on Wednesday, Nov. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Lake Erie College in Painesville. For more information, call 440-375-7540.
