Crew team heads to regatta in Pittsburgh this weekend


DVD rentals on campus

Cleveland State University has entered into an agreement with Box Office Express to provide DVD and computer video games for rent on campus. The rental machine is located on the second floor of the UC outside the Upper Deck food court. It dispenses new release movies and accepts returned movies. Video games will be added soon.

Two-day rentals cost $2.99 with a credit card.

Students are able to use campus lab computers and the computers available from Mobile Campus to play movies.

Vote Your Voice 101

The Focus Center, designed specifically to assist undergraduate students with common challenges, presents Vote Your Voice 101 workshops. The next programs, all presented at 11 a.m., are “Terrorism at Home & Abroad” on Oct. 1, “Ohio Today & Tomorrow: Me and My Generation” on Oct. 8, and “American Rights: Straight, Black, Gay, White, Transgender, Latino…” on Oct. 15.

Register for Race for the Cure

Although the team registration deadline has passed, students can still be part of TeamCSU at the 11th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure by registering at designated areas around the city.

"The Photographic Occasion"

An exhibit will be opening in the The Thomas F. Campbell, Ph.D. Gallery entitled “The Photographic Occasion”, featuring photographs by Dr. Helen Liggett.

Liggett will also be presenting the 2004 Walter Waetjen Lecture, “Visible City and the Photographic Occasion,” on Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Levin College Atrium. This event is free and open to the public.

"Menopause The Musical"

On Thursday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m., Health and Wellness Services, Human Resources Development and Labor Relations, and The Women’s Comprehensive Program is offering CSU students discounted seats to “Menopause The Musical.” Front row seating (rows A-D) is available at a reduced cost of $33.50 ($12.00 savings).

CSU Kendo Club

The Cleveland State University Kendo Club will meet Thursday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the dance room of the Physical Education Building.

Charges are minimal and the club provides students with the use of free equipment.

Get Out the Vote Sept. 30

Get-Out-The-Vote, a project featuring 10 popular writers reading from their works, and registering students, staff, and faculty to vote, will be coming to CSU on Sept. 30 from 2:15 to 5:45 p.m. in Drinko Hall. Newly registered voters can also sign up to get a reminder call on the morning of elections from an author.

Crew team heads to regatta in Pittsburgh this weekend

Fifteen members of the Cleveland State University crew team will go to Pittsburgh, Pa. the weekend of Oct. 2 to participate in “Head of the Ohio,” a regatta with participants from many other colleges and universities.

Students interested in joining Viking Crew, or showing support by attending a regatta, should contact team adviser, Brian Yusko at (216) 875-9774.
