Engineering award presented to Ronald Ledin By Ji-Young Park The CSU College of Engineering honored an alumnus for his help to CSU students at the 14th annual Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony held June 8 at the Cleveland State Convocation Center. The College of Engineering presented the George B. Davis Award for service to the university to Ronald R. Ledin, a professional engineer in Ohio and Mississippi. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1969 from the Fenn College of Engineering. The award is named after George B. Davis, who received a B.BA in 1941 and an M.B.A in 1981, and recognizes a graduate’s generous dedication to the growth and advancement of Cleveland State University. Ledin taught mathematics at Cleveland’s South High School while he was attending CSU. Ledin joined Middough Consulting, Inc. in 1967 and has been the company’s president and chief executive officer since 1978. Based in downtown Cleveland, Middough is a full-service architectural, engineering, environmental and construction firm with offices in eight cities. About 50 Cleveland State alumni work there. A member of the Fenn College of Engineering’s Visiting Committee, Ledin hosted the Alumni Corporate Breakfast at Middough in 2003. He also officiated a meeting between faculty members and Middough’s senior management team and engineers for common research interests. The firm has employed students in the university’s cooperative education program and hosted students for an annual “Engineer for a Day” career experience.
