Library offers grant program to faculty

Cleveland State University Library is accepting applications for the Information Literacy Small Grants Program. Grants of $1,000 will be awarded to full-time faculty for course development in integrated information literacy instruction into teaching and assignments. Grant applications are due on March 31. An informational session for interested applicants will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. in Rhodes Tower 502.

Students plan March 1 PR program

The Student Association for Professional Communication will sponsor a “Resume Writing and Interviewing Tips” workshop on Tuesday, March 1. Guest speaker Laurie Mitchell, owner of Laurie Mitchell & Co. will speak. The workshop is free of charge and will take place in MU 274 at 12 p.m. Those students interested in public relations, marketing, advertising, or other related careers are invited to attend the group’s meeting on Tuesday, March 8 which will also be held at noon in MU 274.

Business college offers lecture series

The James J. Nance College of Business Administration and the Right Management Consultants will present the first of a three lecture series designed to address critical issues facing human resource professionals and their companies. Each program in the series will qualify for two re-certification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR. The lecture “HR as a Strategic Partner: The New Imperative,” will be on Thursday, March 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Monte Ahuja Hall. MBA Program seeks entrants

The James J. Nance College of Business Administration will sponsor four spring information sessions for those interested in learning about earning an MBA or one of three master’s degrees from the college. Financial aid information will be available as well. Open house dates are: Tuesday, March 15, 2005 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the CSU East Center, Wednesday, March 16, 2005 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at CSU’s West Center, Tuesday, March 22, 2005, from 5p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, Airport and Thursday, March 24, 2005 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the college of Business.

New exhibit opens in gallery

The Cleveland State University Art Gallery and Sankofa Fine Art Plus is presenting the work of aspiring and emerging artists in “Generation Emerging” at Gallery C. Art Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit runs through Friday, March 11, 2005 and is free and open to the public. Sankofa will also present its 4th Annual Artist Development Workshop for Visual Artists on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 1 p.m. to 4p.m. at the Art Gallery. The workshop is free but reservations are limited to the first 25 registrants. For more information on the workshop or to register, please call 216-791-2437.

Department of music offers concerts

Cleveland State University’s department of music will present several concerts in March and April at CSU’s Music and Communication Building. Unless otherwise noted, the concerts are free and open to the public. For more information, call the music events line at 216-687-5100.

Urban Affairs discusses casino

The Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs Ruth Ratner Miller Center for Greater Cleveland’s Future will present “Should Cleveland Bet on a Casino?” on Thursday, March 10, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The discussion will be held in the college’s Glickman-Miller hall atrium and is free and open to the public. National Engineers Week entertains CSU students, faculty, staff

National Engineers Week, which began Feb. 22 and continues through Feb. 25, features the spaghetti bridge competition today at 11:30 a.m. in University Center. The SAE car race is planned to take place from noon until 2 p.m. Friday in University Center.
