LSAT and GRE prep courses

The Division of Continuing Education is offering test preparation courses for both the LSAT (Law School Admission Test) and the GRE (Graduate Record Exam).

LSAT prep course begins Jan. 8 to prepare for the February LSAT test. The GRE prep course begins Feb. 5. The Test Prep courses cover problem solving, reading comprehension, analytical writing, and critical reasoning. Classes are held on four Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Cole Center for Continuing Education at 3100 Chester Ave. Course cost is $349, which includes the cost of the textbook.

Starving Artists Ceramics Show

A starving artists ceramics show will be held on Dec. 9, 10, and 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Ceramics Studio, located in University Annex, 2506 Chester Ave., Room 100. The university community and the public are invited.  For information call Professor Richard Schneider at (216) 687-2086.

Tuesdays With Morrie at Playhouse

Tickets for Tuesdays With Morrie, playing Wed., Jan 19, in the Drury Theater at the Cleveland Play House, 8500 Euclid Avenue, are available at a discounted rate of $5. The Cleveland Play House will charge for parking on this evening but if you purchase your tickets prior to the event you will receive a paid parking pass. Only 200 seats available.

Library extends hours finals week

The University Library located in Rhodes Tower, will have extended hours before finals week.

East and West Center open houses

The East Center, located at 34055 Solon Road in Solon, will be holding an open house on Wednesday, Dec.15 from 5-7:30 p.m. The West Center, located at 26202 Detroit Road in Westlake, will be holding an open house on Thursday, Dec. 16 from 5-7:30 p.m.

Donate to the troops this holiday

Newman Catholic Student Organization will be accepting items for donation to the troops Dec. 2-17. Boxes for dropping off items will be in Student Life, or at their office in UC 5 during office hours.

Items approved for USO donation include:

Food items: Gatorade, powder drink mixes, tea bags and coffee packets, cup of soup, ramen noodles, granola bars, trail mix, instant oatmeal, cookies, crackers, dried fruit, fruit snacks, nuts, sunflower seeds, candy, gum, dry cereal, cans of applesauce or fruit, Cracker Jacks, tuna, sardines, etc., peanut butter, seasonings & Tabasco, beef jerky, Pringles, bagged potato chips, chocolate.

Morale boosters: international phone cards, disposable cameras, tobacco, greeting cards, note cards, pens, calendars, pocket notebooks, personal letters, sunglasses, magazines, paperback books, children’s drawings, word puzzle books, travel size games, blank CD’s and DVD’s.

Personal hygiene: toilet paper, chap stick, dental floss, disposal razors, combs, brushes, vitamins, cough drops. Travel sizes of the following: bars of soap, hand sanitizer, eye drops, hand lotion, shampoo, conditioner, antiperspirants, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, shaving cream, feminine products, powder, petroleum jelly.

Everyday neccessities: gallon, sandwich and snack size zip lock bags, boxes, dryer sheets, air fresheners, fly strips, fly swatters (metal handle only), laundromat size laundry soap, batteries.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: When shopping, remember that troops only have pockets and backpacks to keep their possessions. Large items are too hard to handle and too much to ship. In addition, no pornographic materials are allowed to go into Muslim countries.
