Toastmasters Club holds meeting The CSU Toastmasters Club cordially invites all CSU students, faculty and staff to attend an open meeting on Thursday, October 16, from 12 p.m. to 1p.m. in UC 364. The Toastmasters’ Club is a supportive environment whose goal is cultivate success through effective communication, overcoming fears of public speaking and improving public speaking skills. Evolution, creation program set All CSU students, faculty and staff are invited to Allen Memorial Medical Library as Dr. David Menton, associate professor emeritus of anatomy at Washington University of Medicine, attempts to answer the question, “Does scientific evidence support creation or evolution?” The Allen Memorial Medical Library is located on the Case Western Reserve University campus, on the corner of Adelbert and Euclid. For more information call the Campus Bible Fellowship, 216-397-0852. Health Services offers flu shots As the weather gets colder, the flu season is approaching. Flu shots are now available at Health Services by appointment. The charge for this years flu shot is $13.00. Flu shots are strongly recommended for people over the age of 50 who suffer form chronic illness. Appointments for the flu shot can be made by calling Health Services at 687-3649. CSU Plant Services will be soliciting bids for the sale and removal of surplus motor vehicles. Vehicles include: ’95 Chevy van, ’95 Chevy Caprice police car, ’92 Chevy S-10 pickup, ’93 Chevy S-10 pickup, and more. Bids can be placed at the Plant Services building, room 201, at 1802 E. 25th street. Public viewings of the bid items occur on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1p.m. to 3p.m. The bid will close on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. American pianist Jeffrey Siegel brings Bach and beyond to CSU The Community Music Enrichment Program presents the Kulas Series of Keyboard Conversations with Jeffrey Siegel. Internationally renowned American pianist Jeffrey Siegel presents his unique concert-plus-commentary format in which he speaks to the audience about the music prior to performing each work in its entirety. Join Siegel as he presents The Timeless Treasures of Bach, Handel and Brahms, Sunday, Oct. 12, in the Waetjen Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door, and are half price for CSU students and faculty with a current CSU ID.
Continuing Education offers info on power of attorney, living wills
The Director of Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management, Carol A. Roe will cover understanding living wills and durable power of attorney.
This is a new course designed to open the lines of communication to make sure patients’ wishes are respected and carried out by the power of attorney. The seminar is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
