Art exhibit on display

The Edge Art Gallery is presenting “Layers” art exhibition by Catherine M. Gaydos. The exhibit opened Oct. 25 and is running through Nov. 29. “Layers” art exhibit features Gaydos’ recent oil paintings, ceramics, printmaking, photography and film, which will be on display and also available for sale. The Gallery will be opened Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., and by appointment.

Scholarship committee hosts party

The Curtis Wilson Scholarship Fund Committee will present an “Old School” Party on Friday, Nov. 8, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Fat Glenn’s. “Old School” Party will feature a hand dance contest and a raffle for an overnight stay at the Wyndham Hotel. Raffle tickets are on sale now for $1 or $5 for six tickets. The cost for the party is $4. Proceeds will benefit the Curtis Wilson Scholarship Fund.

Registration open for Tolkien reading

The CSU English Department and the EDGE: Lutheran Campus Ministry will hold the second J.R.R. Tolkien “Lord of the Rings” Marathon Reading Celebration: The Two Towers, Nov. 14-16 at Mather Mansion. Registration is required for the workshops and to read in the marathon reading. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

CSU holds meditation workshops

Cleveland State University will present “Empowering the Self: A Meditation Workshop” on Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Mather Mansion. The workshop is part of the 2002 Visiting Indian Scholar Lecture Series and will feature Dr. Vasant Joshi, an internationally renowned scholar of the religion, literature and culture of India. Tickets on sale for theater production

The CSU Dramatic Arts program will present “Richard III” by William Shakespeare in the CSU Factory Theatre. The production will open on Friday, Nov. 15 and run on Nov. 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, and 24. Curtain time is 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Curtain time on Sunday, Nov. 17 is 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and curtain time on Sunday, Nov. 24 is 7 p.m. only. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students, seniors (55+) and CSU faculty and staff. For tickets and more information, please call the Factory Theatre Box Office at 216-687-2109.Hanna parking extendedThe Department of Parking Services has extended its lease for 100 spaces in the Hanna Parking Garage until Nov. 20. Students and staff with a prepaid CSU parking hangtag can park in the Hanna Garage on Mondays and Wed-nesdays only at no additional charge. Access into the garage is available from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and vehicles can be left there all day.

Property Control taking bids

Cleveland State University is soliciting bids for the sale and removal of surplus equipment. The purchaser is responsible for all labor, tools and equipment necessary for the removal of the equipment from its respective location. The equipment must be removed within two weeks after notification of award. All goods are sold “as is” and “where is” and all sales are final. Items will be shown on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. or by appointment on other business days. For information, contact Richard Duxbury at 216-687-2007.
