CSU featured on WEWS

Cleveland State University will be featured again in “College Tour” on WEWS NewsChannel 5 on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 12:30 p.m. The 30-minute show will be broadcast after the Noon News.
NewsChannel 5, in cooperation with Cleveland Magazine developed the show. A special “College Tour” supplement was featured in the October issue of Cleveland Magazine. It focused on CSU and several other area colleges. “
College Tour” premiered on Saturday, Oct. 19, just before the Ohio State University game.

Black Studies hosts conference

Cleveland State University’s Black Studies Program will sponsor the ASCAC’s 20th Annual Midwest Regional Conference. This year’s theme will be “Kemet, The Road to Cultural Reparations.”
The conference will be held Nov. 1 through Nov. 3. Renowned scholar, Dr. Jacob H. Carruthers is scheduled to address the Conference and general public on Friday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. in the University Center Auditorium (ground floor/UC 6). The lecture is free and open to the public.

Recital features vocals and organ

A faculty recital featuring Noriko Fujii, soprano and Margaret Scharf, organ will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. in Waetjen Auditorium. The recital is entitled “Music for Voice and Organ” and will feature works by J.S. Bach, A. Honegger, J. Langlais, L. Boulanger, W. Lutoslawski, D. Pinkham, E. Pepping, and A. Heiller.
The recital is free and open to the public.

Piano and voice concert planned

A song recital with Elizabeth Unis, soprano and Eric Ziolek, piano will be held Friday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m. in Drinko Recital Hall. The recital is entitled “Liederabend,” and will feature the music of Johannes Brahms, Richard Strauss, Hugo Wolf, Kurt Weill and others.
The recital is free and open to the public.

LSAT prep course offered

The Division of Continuing Education is offering an LSAT (Law School Admissions Test) prep course prior to the December LSAT test.
Classes will be held over four Saturdays, beginning Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Cole Center for Continuing Education. Parking is available in CSU lot AA located in front of the building at a cost of $3 per day.
The cost of the course is $349, which includes the cost of the textbook.

Monster Truck discount offered

The Convocation Center will host the Monster Nationals Truck and Thrill Show and CSU students, faculty and staff can purchase tickets at a discounted price.
There will be two shows on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The cost of tickets is $25 for VIP, $18 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. A $2 discount off the $18 adult ticket price for advance purchase and $2 off the $20 adult ticket price for purchasing tickets at the door.
A valid CSU ID needs to be presented at the Convo Ticket Office at the time of purchase and is limited to 1 ticket per ID.

Public health lecture scheduled

The A&S Center for Poverty Studies presents Matthew P. Carroll, J.D. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at noon in HSC 114.
Carroll is the Acting Director of the City of Cleveland Department of Public Health. The title of his talk is “Mosquitoes, smallpox and things that really matter: A day in the life of a Public Health Department.”
