Graduate preparation seminar to be held in University Center

The Graduate School Readiness Seminar will be held Tuesday Nov. 13, at noon to 1 p.m., and will be in University Center room 367. This seminar will be about preparing a first draft of the personal essay. This seminar is presented by Mary Murray, director of the writing center. It's sponsored by the Black Male Initiative (BMI) and Student Achievement in Research and Scholarship (STARS) programs. This seminar is recommended for juniors and seniors planning to attend graduate school.

Art festival auditions set

Cleveland State University’s Black Studies Program will sponsor a Kuumba Arts festival, Saturday, Dec. 1, from 3 to 10 p.m. in University Center.

Festival performers auditions will be held Friday, Nov. 16, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the University Center Auditorium, located at 2121 Euclid Ave.

Artists should bring support materials such as audio tapes, CDs and portfolios to the audition.

Poetry sessions to take place

Cleveland State University students share live readings titled “Streaming Audio, Poems and Essays on Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

This event will be at The Edge Campus Ministry located at 1832 Euclid, on Friday, Nov. 16. There will be two sessions from 11 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Cider and bagels will be served.

The readings feature Dr. Gerry Kiefer’s English 102 students and CSU Art Gallery Artwork.

Music department presents a month of concerts

Cleveland State University Music Department faculty and students present a month of concerts.

This Sunday, Nov. 11, at 4 p.m. in Waetjen Auditorium located in the Music and Communication Building at 2001 Euclid Ave. “Keyboard Conversations” with Jeffrey Siegel features a concert with commentary by the Five Fabulous Freshmen. Tickets are $20 and $5 for students with college I.D.

A clarinet recital, conducted by Theodore Johnson will be presented on Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. in Waetjen Auditorium. This concert is free.

A free Sundown Jazz Concert will be Nov.18 at 4 p.m. in Drinko Recital Hall, also located in the Music and Communication Building.

Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. at Drinko Recital Hall, new music associates celebrates electro-acoustic chamber music with guest composers James Primosch, Kurt Stallmann, Butch Rovan, Josh Skaller and Howard Sandroff. This concert is free to the general public.

A free chorus and chorale concert conducted by Michael Seredick is Nov. 30, at 8 p.m. in Waetjen Auditorium.
