Theatre program presents "The Lower Depths" Jazz masters host class/clinic at Drinko Hall
Theatre program presents "The Lower Depths" The theatre arts department is presenting The Lower Depths on Oct. 26-28 and Nov. 1-4. The play is a modern adaptation of the Russian Classic, Gurki, which was written in the early part of last century and performed at the Moscow Art Theatre. Directed by Allen Byrne, the adaptation of the original is a line-by-line replacement from classic to modern language. The professions and names of the characters have also been modernized. The play is no longer set in a “flop house,” but in an underground utility space.
Jazz masters host class/clinic at Drinko Hall Members of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra will host a master’s level class/clinic at Cleveland State University on October 13, 2001. The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra will come to CSU prior to their evening performance at the Allen Theater with premier jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. The CSU Jazz Assemble under the direction of Howie Smith will perform along side the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra during the clinic. College of Education host a teacher networking program The College of Education Alumni Association will host a teacher networking program on Oct. 25 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in University Center Room 1. A career services adviser, school principals, personnel directors, and first and second year teachers will be present to talk with interested students. The program is designed to give CSU students an opportunity to interact with professionals in the education field.
A fair for prospective Cleveland State students will be held Oct. 27 in the University Center Room 1. There is no charge for admission. The fair will provide information to Cleveland area high school students who wish to attend Cleveland State. A CSU student panel will discuss life on campus. CSU professors will discuss with students what is expected of them in college. The program will also help prospective students prepare for college. Instructional Media Services to conduct training sessions CSU’s Instructional Media Services will conduct equipment training sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 17, and Thursday, Oct. 18. The training sessions will be held in MC 409, MC 413, and MC 445 on both days from 2 to 4 p.m. The training sessions will assist the faculty in using the instructional equipment installed in MC classrooms. An IMS equipment specialist conducts all training sessions and a multimedia supervisor will also be present to provide information on multimedia production.
