Harambee Leadership Series underway

The Cleveland State University Department of Student Life Student Leadership Programs star-ted the first Harambee Leadership Series on Sept. 18. The series is free and open to all CSU students.

The Harambee Leadership Series will focus on the Nguzo Saba, or the seven principles of Kwanzaa, the African-American holiday celebration. The seven prin-ciples observed are Umoja, or “Unity,” Kujichagulia, or “Self-Determination,” Ujima, or “Collective Work and Responsibility,” Uja-maa, or “Cooperative Eco-nomics,” Nia, or “Purpose,” Kuumba, or “Creativity,” and Imani, or “Faith.”

Paul Putman, coordinator of leadership programs, said the series is to compel students to “bring about change in the community.”
