Black Studies offers relationship series Flu shots available at Health Services College of Education offers Praxis II review session for students
Black Studies offers relationship series The Counseling Center and Black Studies is offering a series of six drop-in programs on relationships. No pre-registration is required. Topics include "The search for Ms. and Mr. Right," Oct. 3; "Men are from Mars Women are from Venus," Oct. 10; "What's Love got to do with it? The question is sex," Oct. 17; "Positive Parenting," Oct. 24; and "Creating a Spiritual Bond," Oct. 31. These workshops will meet in the Black Cultural Center on Wednesdays, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. and are given by Dr. Paula Mickens-English, psychologist. For more information, call (216) 687-2277.
Flu shots available at Health Services Flu shots are available for faculty, staff and students for $10 by appointment only at the Health Services. Anyone who is allergic to eggs, egg products or thimersol, should not take this vaccine. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call (216) 687-3649.
Psychic Sylvia Brown will give a lecture at the Cleveland State University Convocation Center Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. Brown has shown her psychic ability on many national programs, such as “Unsolved Mysteries,” “The Montel Williams Show,” and “That’s Incredible.” Tickets are $50 and $30. College of Education offers Praxis II review session for students Cleveland State University’s College of Education is offering a Praxis II review session to students who wish to quality for a provisional teaching license in Ohio on Oct.17 and Oct. 24, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in University Center room 1. The Praxis II examination replaced the former National Teacher Examination in Ohio during the 1999- 2000 academic year. All students are invited to attend sessions. It is highly recommended that students attend both sessions to receive the most comprehensible review. All teaching licensure candidates are required to take the Principles of Learning and Teaching exam. Other required exams and their passing scores can be found on the bottom portion of the specific licensure requirements form.
Two new classes offered to help small business owners The Cleveland State University Business College has two new classes that may be of interest to small business owners and those interested in police work. Saturday mornings 9 a.m. to noon, classes for microenterprise owners are being offered. The class is intended for very small in-home based businesses, storefronts, or offices with five or less employees in need of less than $25,000 to get started. Professor Alvin Saafir will instruct the class, teaching business basics, money management, developing a business plan, etc. The Key Bank-sponsored program will be held in the Cleveland State Monte Ahuja Hall, room 127 on the corner of East 18th Street and Euclid Avenue. Course fee is $180 and financial aid is available for a limited number of participants.
