Spring concerts set for Drinko Hall Programs honor women in history
Spring concerts set for Drinko Hall Cleveland State University’s Department of Music will present spring concerts in March in the Music and Communication Building at 2001 Euclid Ave. On Sunday, March 10 at 4 p.m. the Sundown Jazz Concert will perform in Drinko Recital Hall. A Clarinet Recital will be held on Monday, March 18 at 7 p.m. in Drinko Recital Hall. The Cleveland State University Orchestra and Chorus Concert will be held on Friday, March 22 at 8 p.m. in Waetjen Auditorium. The last of the spring concerts will be on Monday, March 25 at 8 p.m. when the Cleveland Chamber Symphony will perform “Old Wind in New Bottles: 20th Century Retrospective” in Drinko Recital Hall. Programs honor women in history Cleveland State University will recognize Women’s History Month with several programs during March. On March 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. the film, “Reaching Out For Liberty and Light: The Life of Frances Payne Bolton,” will be held at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs in the Dively Room. On March 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. a “Women’s Conference on Peace and Community” will be held at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs in the atrium. On March 19 from noon to 1 p.m. the presentation, “Women’s Leadership Dilemma: Why Can’t a Woman Be Less Like a Man?” by Dr. Camilla Stivers and Albert A. Levin, chair of Urban Studies and Public Policy. On March 22 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. the film “One Women, One Vote” will be held at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs in the Dively Room. Tax time workshop for students A reminder that all international students are required to file a tax return whether or not he or she has worked in the United States of America. The annual Income Tax Workshop will be held on Tuesday March 19 in the University Center (UC) Room 1. The following are the times for the workshop 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. for students from India; 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. for students from the People’s Republic of China, and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. for students from other countries. A representative from the IRS will give the workshop and will provide all tax forms needed. For further information, contact the Office of International Services and Programs at 687-3910.
Public housing seminar at Mather The Thomas F. Campbell Cleveland Seminar on the City will be held on March 7 at 6 p.m. in Mather Mansion Room 101. Professor Rhonda Y. Williams from the Department of History at Case Western Reserve University will speak on the topic “Through the Lens of Public Housing: Desegregation at the Grassroots.” The Social History and the City Program (SHAC) in the history department sponsor the seminar.
