Cleveland Postcards to be on display through April 2001

Walter Leedy’s spectacular selection of Cleveland postcards will be on display beginning Oct. 24 through April 1, 2001. The CSU library will host this exhibit of 1,300 historic postcards entitled “Greetings from Cleveland.” The exhibit will be on the third floor in the library’s Special Collections area.

To kick off the exhibit, Walter Leedy, Ph. D., owner of the collection and professor of art at CSU, Walterill present a free public lecture and slide show on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3:00 p.m. in the library’s Special Collections area.

CSU Seventh Annual Diversity Conference planned for Nov. 10

“All Eyes on Me: Racial/Ethnic Stereotypes and Student Achievement,” will be the theme of this years conference being held on Friday Nov. 10. The full day conference will take place at the Joseph E. Cole Center for Continuing Education, 3100 Chester Ave.

The conference will focus on the increased diversity on college campuses and show how students are faced with perceptions and presumptions on their abilities based on their skin color.

CSU to sponsor annual Midwest Regional Minority Career Fair

CSU’s Career Services and National Society of Black Engineers will sponsor the Thirteenth Annual Midwest Regional Minority Career Fair on Friday, Nov. 3, from 9a.m. to 2p.m. at Woodling Gym, 2451 Euclid Ave. Admission is free and all majors and professions are welcome. For more information call the Career Services Center at 216-687-2233.

“What’s up?” meeting promotes positive campus activities

The “What’s Up?” meeting will be an opportunity for participants to briefly describe their activities or those of others that are positive efforts to promote the university’s goals and objectives on and off campus. This meeting will be concerning life long education.
This meeting will be Tues., Oct. 31, noon to 1p.m. in RT 1916.

Cleveland State University sponsors Black Church College Fair

Cleveland State University will sponsor its fifth Black Church College Fair on Sat. Oct. 28, from 9:15a.m. to 1p.m. in Room One of the University Center. This fair is targeted to prospective CSU students who are African American, members of Cleveland area black churches, and are currently in grades nine through twelve.

Panel discussion on religion and politics to be held with faculty

There will be a faculty discussion on religion and politics in the 2000 election. It will be held on Thurs. Oct. 26, between noon and 1p.m. in UC 368. All are invited to join in this panel discussion with Professors Lieske, Kweder, Govea, Bloch, and Cagen about the intersection of religion and politics for this upcoming election. The discussion is sponsored by Newman Catholic Ministries, United Protestant Campus Ministries, and Hillel.
