Fulbright experiences focus talk

Art historian Kathy Curnow, a member of the art department faculty, will speak on Friday, Oct. 20 at 1:30 p.m. in AB Room 202 about her Fulbright scholar experiences in Nigeria and Brazil.

AIDS talk set for Oct. 19

Members of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., a public service sorority on campus, are hosting an evening dialogue on Oct.19, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the University Center Kiva.
The Deltas and Jondarr Bradshaw, executive director of Xchange Point, will discuss the AIDS epidemic in the African American community.

AAA plans golf shirt sale

The Accounting Association/Beta Alpha Psi is selling CSU Alumni golf shirts. The shirts are available in three colors, green, teal and navy blue. The price per shirt will be $30 for alumni, $25 for graduating seniors and members of either the Accounting Association or Beta Alpha Psi. For others interested the price will $30.
The golf shirts are displayed in the lower level of BU located in the James C. Nance College of Business.

Parents weekend planned for October at Viking Hall

The Department of Residence Life will hold a Parent’s Weekend for Viking Hall residents Oct. 21 and 22.
Events and activities for parents weekend include; games, contests and a party.
The department is holding a “Parent of the Year” contest. Students must write a one-page essay on why their parent deserves the honor. The essays are due Oct. 13.
The department is also holding a door-decorating contest for Halloween with cash prizes for the top three. The first place winner receives $50; second place, $40; and third place; $25.

Law program looks at hate crimes

Hate crimes will be the topic of discussion at The Cleveland Marshall College of Law Symposium on Friday, Oct. 20.
According to Kevin Butler of The Gavel, the Student Public Interest Law Organization is organizing the Symposium, with the help of 10 other organizations that deal with hate crimes.
Among those speaking will be Joel Ratner of Anti-Defamation League, Linda Schmidt and Gerald Henly of the FBI, C-M professors Karin Mika and Kevin O’Neill, and representatives from Gay Rights group.
The symposium is free and open to the public. It will be held from 8a.m.-4p.m. and will include lunch.

Re-entry program set for Nov. 1

The next Outreach Program for Re-Entry Women will be held on Nov. 1, in University Center, Room 364. The program is sponsored by the University’s Women’s Comprehensive Program, and the American Association of University Women.
In two sessions – 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. discussion will focus on topics such as career development, personal growth, educational opportunities, scholarship programs, financial aid, and university procedures.
Women who are considering returning to school to finish their education or to update their skills, may want to attend this program.
