Annual CVS Marathon hits pavement April 30
by Ari Davydov
The 23rd Annual CVS Cleveland 10K and Marathon will start at 8 a.m.
on April 30 at East 18th Street and Euclid Avenue.
This Cleveland tradition usually attracts 5,000 to 7,000 runners and
about 100,000 spectators along the 27-mile route to Rocky River and back
to East 22nd Street and Euclid Avenue.
Although running is not a team sport, the marathon teaches many people
about teamwork. There are spectators turning on their garden hoses to wash
down the participants.
On the organizational side, the run is made possible by a joint effort
of the supporting departments of Cleveland State University, coordinated
by Alice Kohl of the athletic department.
This year, Radio Disney will have a booth set up in front of the Law
Building to entertain children under 10. Euclid will be re-opened
at 3 p.m.; those still running will have to move to the sidewalks.
Registration will be held at Woodling Gym on April 28 and 29.

International Day to honor CSU students
by Meghan O’Connor
CSU is home to more than 700 international students from more than 70
countries. In honor of these students and their homelands, the Center for
International Services and Programs will hold an International Day on May
2.
However, the center cannot do this alone. It needs help in planning
and organizing the day. The center is seeking everything from singers,
dancers, and martial arts performers to painters and chefs.
“I realize that this comes at stressful time for students with
finals, and papers due, but we still need a small amount of time from each
student,” said Gwen Jensen of the Center for International Services and
Programs.
For information or to volunteer, contact Jensen at (216) 687-3910.
